What motivated you to start your business? What experience do you offer.
I found it difficult to focus when I shot my rifle at times. It was fuzzy and unclear so I started to research optics. I wanted a technological sound product to help shooter focus with bifocals.
I am an electrical engineer in avionics with experience in a wide range of aircraft and auto electrical engineering.
What makes your business different/stand out?
My business specializes in developing an eye wear glasses that have optomeric and lab support. This is not a high volume business so the big eye glass companies do not want to get into it as well as the big optic labs - they shy away. My partner is a medial ophthalmologist surgeon so we have a unique model.
Do you have any advice for people looking for your kind of business? What should they look for? What should they avoid?
They should be looking for Prescription Shooting Glasses or Inverted Bifocal Glasses. We are unique in that we offer custom low volume work in optical design that is affordable and it works well.
They should look at the major shooting organizations like the Bianchi Cup and Palmer shooting or National long range rifle shooting.
They should avoid fast talking, fly by nights that do not offer full service so the need is filled.
Describe a favorite or memorable client experience?
I really have not seen many problems. I hear a lot that the glasses work and the clients have never shot so well. Only one problem ever and we refunded his money - it’s a money back situation.
Where do you go to find new clients? What marketing avenues deliver the best results for you?
I attend many shows: Guns Shows, Shot Show - The Wanenmacher’s Tulsa Arms Show is the biggest in the US.
I get a lot from referral clients and from NRA shooting classes. One of my best was from Front Site Instructors who kept me alive for two years. They thought the glasses were perfect for their instructors and students.
List your services that you offer?
I am a full service prescription custom made shooting glass company. Very few do what I do from the initial contact with the customer, helping with advice on their prescription, frames and type of lenses. I am a distributor of the Wiley-X outdoor shooting eyewear, ESS, and Oakley-I safety System also. We do tints and we educate on all the measurements needed and how to read their RX. Out lenses are Plastic Resin and our glasses adhere to all official and shooting sport guidelines for safety and material.
